A few notes are enough: the Super Mario Bros. theme signed by Koji Kondo is arguably the most famous video game melody in the world. Rousing, mischievous and timeless, it has accompanied every jump for decades. This chiptune masterpiece, etched into popular culture, remains eternally fresh.

Collector interest

Official GBA reissue of the original NES Super Mario Bros., released in the Classic NES sub series initially launched to celebrate the Famicom's twentieth anniversary in Japan. Nintendo cardboard box with artwork inspired by the 8 bit covers and a cartridge label in the NES Classics palette, which makes it for Mario collectors a visually distinct object from the other appearances of the game. International run was broad but the original cardboard box regularly turns up damaged.

Is Classic NES Series - Super Mario Bros. still worth playing in 2026?

Classic NES Series Super Mario Bros. offers the founding 1985 game in a polished official Nintendo emulation, calibrated for the GBA's screen format and palette. The experience is identical to the original down to the pixel, neither enhanced nor trimmed, which makes it a perfect witness piece. Compared with current Switch compilations the commercial appeal has faded, yet the cartridge keeps its object charm and a collector status tied to the Famicom Mini phenomenon. Recommended for collectors and fans of faithful retro ports.
