First part of the original Clockwork Knight, same visual qualities and solid gameplay. The false-depth scenery is charming. Short and accessible, perfect for a relaxing session. Not as good as the sequel but completes the picture.

A world of toys in CGI, mechanical automatons and music-box settings: the game unfurls a clockwork universe of quaint, enchanting charm. The roundness of the pre-rendered characters and the warm light overflow with tenderness. This visual direction, polished and fairylike, stands as an adorable curiosity.

The Japanese version of the first Clockwork Knight, a Saturn launch platformer where Sega bet on pre-rendered backdrops. In Japan the adventure was split into two separately sold volumes, an edition quirk that speaks to collectors attentive to the machine's commercial history. Desirability rests on its launch-title standing and on completing the Japanese pair, rather than on marked scarcity.
Is Clockwork Knight - Pepperouchau no Daibouken Joukan still worth playing in 2026?
A Saturn launch platformer from Sega, Clockwork Knight stars the toy knight Pepper who explores an animated doll house to save his princess, through two and a half D levels with enchanting settings made of giant everyday objects. The fairy tale art direction, the superb sprites and the charm of the concept made it a launch technical showcase. The gameplay stays simple and linear, and the content thin. For a retro platforming fan, someone curious about the Saturn's beginnings or a collector, the title keeps a definite visual charm and period character.
