The art direction lies in the attack animations. Each robot, drawn from a different series, triggers its signature technique in a hand-drawn sequence, heroic poses, energy effects, speed lines and exploding logos, faithful to the style of the anime it comes from. The game chains these action shorts like a visual anthology, where the pleasure is to see each license rendered with the exact line of its original studio.
The soundtrack is a medley of robot theme songs. When a mech enters action, its original television theme rises, rearranged for the occasion, so that each combat turn summons the song of a different series. The battlefield becomes an anime jukebox, where you recognize a license by its first notes, and where the accumulation of familiar refrains makes all the nostalgic pleasure of the crossover.
The story braids together dozens of universes into a single war. Heroes from unconnected robot series, humans, aliens, conscious machines, find themselves enlisted in a dimensional conflict that threatens to collapse the worlds into one another. The pleasure lies in the impossible encounters, one pilot crossing another who should never have existed at his side, and the plot links these scattered fates into a common fresco.

A diptych in Banpresto's tactical saga, the third Super Robot Taisen Z, split into Jigoku-hen and Tengoku-hen chapters, gathers a huge roster of mechs from many series in turn battles with sumptuous staging. The crossover thrill, the virtuoso attack animations and the depth of unit management reach a peak for fans. The slow pace, the grinding and the Japanese language limit access. An excellent tactics game for fans of animation mechs and abundant turn based strategy.
