The graphic idea holds in a gag sustained throughout: a headless hero, his torso adorned with a face, who unhooks his skull and throws it forward. The swamp, tomb and cloud scenery takes up that macabre humour with grinning bones and bone-shaped platforms, in a surprisingly bright palette.

Its collector interest comes from a status as an underrated gem, long overlooked then rehabilitated. The North American print stays modest, and the favoured target is the complete boxed copy, now less common for this quiet classic.
