A PS1 port of the pioneer Descent FPS with full rotation and mine exploration. Bold six degrees of freedom concept, but readability tough on TV and finicky pad handling. Better played on the original PC.

Is Descent still worth playing in 2026?

A pioneer of six degrees of freedom shooting, Descent puts you piloting a ship through weightless mining mazes where up and down lose all meaning. The total freedom of movement, the labyrinthine exploration and the tension of fighting in the dark keep a strong identity. Motion sickness lurks for the sensitive and the console port suffers against the PC version. An atypical, memorable FPS for fans of three dimensional level design and rare spatial sensations.
