Collector interest

Break Record is the expanded take on Devil Survivor 2, never released in box form outside Asia. Its collector value is high for Atlus fans: it is the narratively most complete version, with an extra arc that reshapes the game's scope. The Japanese print run was modest, smaller than for the first entry, and complete copies with manual have become genuine hunts for anyone aiming to line up Devil Survivor on 3DS in physical form.

An underrated gem

This sequel expands the demonic tactical formula with a fresh cast and a gripping apocalyptic story, adding a brand-new arc to the 3DS version. Niche and long Japan-only, it slipped under the mainstream's radar. For fans of edgy strategy and moral dilemmas, it's a rich, demanding gem to devour.

Is Devil Survivor 2 - Break Record still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2015 on 3DS and known in the West as Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker, Atlus' project is the enhanced port of a dark tactical RPG where high schoolers face the apocalypse over a fateful week after an invasion of creatures from the network. The hybrid system mixing grid movement and Press Turn combat, demon fusion and the management of bonds with characters make for a rich and tense strategy. This version adds a long new narrative arc, Triangulum. The density of text and the austerity put off. A generous and demanding tactical RPG, recommended for fans of dark strategy.
