The Famicom Namcot edition of the arcade classic, notable for the absence of an official US NES version, which only surfaced as an arcade conversion and in late compilations. The Japanese cart is abundant, but boxed copies in the original Namco card sleeve signal a complete Namcot collection. The recent Switch Namcot Collection reissue has not disturbed the Famicom physical cote.
Is Dig Dug still worth playing in 2026?
Dig Dug is Namco's arcade in a faithful NES transposition. The iconic concept of inflating monsters with a pump or crushing them with rocks still works wonderfully, and reading the pixelated underground stays a mechanical pleasure. Stages chain with a fair progressive difficulty curve, and the pacing suits short sessions perfectly. For pure retro arcade fans, classic Namco lovers and instantly playable game fans at any age, still a timeless cart that rediscovers itself effortlessly today.
