The sequel enriches gameplay with new enemy types and more varied environments. More generous than the original, same charm intact. Recommended if you enjoyed the first.

Collector interest

The Famicom sequel to Taito's puzzle-platformer, never released in the West and much rarer than the first entry. The late 1992 release, right before the Famicom's commercial sunset, kept distribution narrow. Complete Japanese CIB with cardboard sleeve and manual has become an identified target for Taito Famicom collectors, and the cote has doubled in less than ten years without any media-fuelled spike.

Is Don Doko Don 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Don Doko Don 2 enriches the first game's gameplay with new enemy types and more varied environments. Taito's hammer-grab-and-throw concept remains intact and tasty. More generous than the original, with the same charm, this is an effective sequel, ideal for retro cooperative platformer fans. Controls remain precise, the soundtrack pleasant. Mostly Japan-only and rare. For Taito 8-bit and original-concept platformer fans, a strongly recommendable detour today.
