Direct sequel that grows the roster and beefs up the staging. Still by Dimps, same core strengths, well-handled nods to the anime, more side modes. Not Budokai 3 yet but already a step above the first entry. Pleasant.

A sequel in the Budokai series, this second installment expands the roster, adds new characters from the Buu saga and replaces the classic story mode with board game style progression, halfway between fighting game and board game. The combat system gains readability and spectacle, faithful to the anime. The presentation has aged and the board mode divides. For Dragon Ball Z fans and lovers of accessible versus, it remains a pleasant, content rich entry, valued for its expanded cast.
