PS1 remake of Dragon Quest IV with an additional fifth narrative chapter and deeply likable characters. The independent chapter system is brilliant and Sugiyama's soundtrack unforgettable. A JRPG masterpiece and one of the finest versions of this foundational entry.

Collector interest

The PlayStation remake of Dragon Quest IV, kept exclusive to Japan and released late in 2001 as the console was already giving way. This reworking of a series milestone, never localized in this form, draws collectors who want the 32-bit version before the later handheld reissue. Its end-of-life local run makes it a markedly harder copy to find complete.

Is Dragon Quest IV - Michibikareshi Mono-tachi still worth playing in 2026?

Dragon Quest IV - Michibikareshi Mono-tachi is the PS1 remake of Dragon Quest IV with an unprecedented fifth narrative chapter and deeply endearing characters. The independent chapter system culminating in a common fresco is brilliant, Koichi Sugiyama's score unforgettable and the 2D art noticeably refreshed versus NES. Japan-only on PS1. An excellent version to discover today.
