A 3D reinvention of Don Bluth's famous interactive cartoon, Dragon's Lair 3D - Return to the Lair trades the original's laserdisc sequences for a genuine platforming and action game, where Dirk the Daring explores the dragon's castle. The animation, faithful to Bluth's cartoon style, remains its finest asset, but the stiff controls, fickle camera and frustrating difficulty drag the adventure down. For nostalgics of the original Dragon's Lair and fans of classic animation, it offers a visually appealing reimagining, sadly undermined by its gameplay.
