The German release of Dune II, identical at heart. The very first major console RTS, genre-defining, still well worth rediscovering today.

Collector interest

Dune II Kampf um den Wuestenplaneten is the dedicated German edition of Dune II The Battle for Arrakis with full German localisation. Collector value comes from that Germanic specificity.

Is Dune II - Kampf um den Wuestenplaneten still worth playing in 2026?

A Mega Drive adaptation of the founding real time strategy by Westwood, Dune II offers the conquest of Arrakis with three houses to choose and a spice harvesting system that would define the RTS genre for decades to come. The Mega Drive version loses the mouse but adapts rather well to the pad. Visually dated by now, the title remains an absolutely essential historical milestone for understanding the evolution of real time strategy on console today still here truly indeed for any RTS fan now.
