The opening sets the tone with its painted views of Arrakis and its incoming ships, before giving way to the campaign map where territory takes on colour with each victory. The sandworm remains the centrepiece: it splits the ground, throwing up a plume of dust, and swallows an entire unit in a single animation.
Complete: box, manual and disc/cart very clean. Lightly handled.

Dune The Battle for Arrakis is the NTSC edition of the Westwood Studios/Virgin game, the Megadrive adaptation of the RTS that founded the genre. Its collector value comes from the game's historical position (the first console RTS) and from the fact that the Megadrive version is the only official console port of Dune II at the time, a configuration never reproduced on other 16-bit consoles.

A Mega Drive adaptation of the founding real time strategy by Westwood, Dune II offers the conquest of Arrakis with three houses to choose and a spice harvesting system that would define the RTS genre for decades to come. The Mega Drive version loses the mouse but adapts rather well to the pad. Visually dated by now, the title remains an absolutely essential historical milestone for understanding the evolution of real time strategy on console today still here truly indeed for any RTS fan now.
