Is Dux still worth playing in 2026?

A late independent production on Dreamcast, Dux is a horizontal shooter that openly claims the R-Type legacy, with its ship, its orbital module and its mechanical backdrops. The result is solid and snappy, with clean 2D presentation, but it suffers from a lack of identity and at times rough balancing. For fans of old school shmups and collectors of modern releases on the console, it delivers an effective dose of action, even if it invents nothing in an already well charted genre.
