An Acclaim future racer built around pure speed intoxication. Over six hundred kilometres an hour, ten winding circuits, mounted weapons and an astonishing sense of fluidity for 1997. The blurry camera takes some getting used to, but the adrenaline rush is instant. A turbo-charged reference.

Is Extreme-G still worth playing in 2026?

Extreme-G is an Acclaim futuristic motorcycle racing game, in which you race at dizzying speeds on obstacle-laden circuits, with weapons to hinder your rivals. The sense of extreme speed, the neon aesthetic and the use of weapons bring strong sensations, in line with the futuristic racing of the era. The at-times twitchy driving on the edge of control and a marked blur effect prove divisive. For fans of high-speed retro futuristic racing and skill challenge, it is an exhilarating and stylish title.
