F1 2014 is the last Codemasters game on PS3 with the new turbo hybrid single-seaters. Transition to the hybrid era well captured, familiar gameplay. Honest for fans but slightly behind F1 2013.

Collector interest

The penultimate Codemasters F1 on PS3, released as the series shifted to the next generation, with a driver and team season quickly outdated. Like any annually licensed sports game, its collector interest is thin: wide run, dated content and a rock-bottom price. Its only value lies in capturing a precise Formula 1 season, a marker for those documenting the line.

Better with friends

A single-seater simulation where the slightest braking error costs you dearly, lending the duels a delicious demand and tension. The competition rewards consistency and race management over aggression, in a very pure stopwatch rivalry. Local split-screen pits two drivers wheel to wheel, while the era's online relies on servers whose activity is no longer guaranteed.

Is F1 2014 still worth playing in 2026?

F1 2014 is Codemasters' final entry on PS3, marked by the move into the turbo-hybrid engine era. This transition is rather well conveyed, with familiar and still enjoyable driving that captures the behaviour of the new generation of single-seaters. The experience stays solid and accessible, faithful to what the series had established. But it innovates little and remains, by general consensus, a notch below the excellent F1 2013, without the rich Classics content. Its online has gone dark. For the fan attached to the 2014 season, it honestly does the job, without being the series' best.
