Collector interest

GBA reissue of Excitebike within the Famicom Mini collection, a look back at the 1984 motocross race designed by Miyamoto, a pioneer for its track editor letting the player draw their own courses. The cartridge keeps this creation mechanic that foreshadowed the customization modes to come, in a miniature box faithful to the original. Its collecting interest rests on this precursor role for level editing and on belonging to the Famicom anniversary line.

Is Famicom Mini 04 - Excitebike still worth playing in 2026?

A GBA reissue of the 1984 motocross game, Excitebike has you ride a bike across tracks dotted with bumps and ramps while managing engine overheating. The timing of jumps, reading the terrain and the track editor offer a brilliantly simple concept, surprisingly addictive. The handling and the side scrolling have aged remarkably well for a title this old. For someone curious about Nintendo's beginnings, a fan of arcade racing or a collector, the title keeps an immediate pleasure and a sense of experimentation still enjoyable.
