Offered in the North American Final Fantasy Anthology compilation, Final Fantasy VI unfolds Squaresoft's sublime art direction. Pixel art of rare richness, a twilight steampunk world, Yoshitaka Amano's character design and expressive sprites make an operatic, melancholy aesthetic. Detailed towns, mecha and magitek dress a timeless visual fresco. A peak of 16-bit art, preserved on PlayStation.
Nobuo Uematsu's score for Final Fantasy VI is considered one of the peaks of video game music. Chiseled character themes, intense battle pieces and above all the famous opera scene and the monumental Dancing Mad deploy a richness and ambition rare for the 16-bit era. Between melancholy and epic grandeur, this score carries all the emotion of the story. A timeless musical work.
A choral cast, a jester turned god and a world that truly collapses: few RPGs have dared such a reversal. The writing, dark and luminous at once, grants each character a wound and a hope. Often held to be the narrative peak of 2D, it has lost none of its tragic power.
Complete: box, manual and disc/cart very clean. Lightly handled.

Is Final Fantasy Anthology - Final Fantasy VI still worth playing in 2026?
Final Fantasy VI is a Squaresoft masterpiece with a cast of fourteen memorable characters, operatic staging and Nobuo Uematsu's legendary soundtrack. Kefka remains one of the JRPG history's greatest antagonists, and the post-apocalyptic second act stays one of the medium's most striking narrative dares. The PS1 / Anthology port suffers from loading times but content stays intact. An absolute peak today.
