An underrated gem

At the controls of a transformable mecha, you clear out a futuristic Los Angeles with no shortage of firepower, solo or in a surprisingly strategic competitive mode, an overlooked ancestor of the MOBA. Its quiet release pushed it into the background. Its generous action and clever two-player mode make it a title to rediscover with friends.

Is Future Cop - L.A.P.D. still worth playing in 2026?

A mecha action game from EA, Future Cop L.A.P.D. has you pilot a police robot that transforms between walker and vehicle modes, through snappy levels mixing shooting, exploration and destruction. The Precinct Assault mode, a hybrid of action and duel strategy, remains a surprisingly deep and replayable find. The sometimes fickle camera and a late 90s production show their age. A generous, original action title to recommend for fans of arcade mecha and overlooked discoveries.
