An indie shooter homage to retro shmups, with a kawaii heroine and accessible gameplay. Not the sharpest of its kind, but the project breathes passion. Likeable for fans.

Is FX Unit Yuki still worth playing in 2026?

An independent production published by PixelHeart, FX Unit Yuki is a retro flavored action platformer, conceived as a tribute to late eighties Japanese titles. The heroine runs, jumps and shoots through colorful levels with careful pixel art, against catchy tunes. The result is likable but conventional, with no real ambition beyond the nostalgic nod, and the content stays limited. For fans of retro action and collectors attached to the contemporary Dreamcast scene, it is an honest, well finished treat.
