A third Gex outing in 3D, more assured than ever. The parody TV channels offer real tonal variety, Gex's reference-loaded humour still raises a smile and the handling is markedly better. A pleasant 3D platformer surprisingly well finished by this point.

Collector interest

The European Gex 3 ships with multilingual English, Spanish and Italian packaging and a tighter late-life 1999 PAL run than the US release. Complete and sealed copies climb sharply, supported both by the scarcity of intact packaging and by growing interest in the N64's minor 3D platformers. Loose carts stay reasonable, so it is the difficulty of assembling a full, complete copy that creates the premium rather than the game itself commanding it.

Is Gex 3 - Deep Cover Gecko still worth playing in 2026?

Gex 3 - Deep Cover Gecko is the third installment of Crave's spy gecko adventures, infiltrating a multitude of parody television channels to save Agent Xtra. The concept of crossing worlds that pastiche films and shows, carried by the hero's incessant one-liners, keeps a singular humor. The 3D handling, camera and a repetitive level design show their age. For fans of retro 3D mascot platformers and referential parody humor, it is a pleasant curiosity, mainly for the character's offbeat tone.
