Stealth game based on the classic war film. Sneaking through Nazi POW camps and disguise mechanics are well executed. Production is modest but atmosphere is faithful to the film. Honest entertainment for genre and film fans.

Description
An action-adventure by Pivotal Games and SCi released in 2003, based on John Sturges' film. Players control each of the six Allied team members preparing the Stalag Luft III breakout in turn, in a mix of stealth, dialogue and brawling. More faithful to the film than most movie tie-ins.

Is Great Escape, The still worth playing in 2026?

A stealth action game from Pivotal Games, The Great Escape draws on the famous war film to bring to life the escape from a prisoner camp, alternating stealth, sabotage and action during World War II. The fidelity to the film, the tense escape mood and the variety of objectives win over fans of war stories. The dated production, an improvable AI and rigid handling weigh on it. A title for fans of historical stealth and nostalgics of war film adaptations on PS2.
