Hammerin' Harry the mason on NES in its western version. The social humor and mechanics of the Japanese original are preserved. Charming and original action-platformer, still recommendable.

The European PAL NES edition of Irem's platformer, never released in the US. The PAL cart is one of the hardest Irem NES titles to find complete in its original box, and its offbeat angry-construction-worker humour gives it a recognisable identity. CIB in an intact cardboard box climbs hard, sustained by real physical scarcity and by Western Irem collectors' curiosity for this PAL exclusive.
Is Hammerin' Harry still worth playing in 2026?
Hammerin' Harry on NES stars Gen-san, the hammer-wielding bricklayer defending his neighbourhood against an unscrupulous developer. The social humour of Irem's title is preserved in the Western version, and the hammer-based combat mechanics stay original and satisfying. Endearing and original action platformer, the title delivers a colourful, well-paced experience. Still a sought-after collectors cart. Still a strongly recommendable detour today.
