The second half of the diptych, Heisei Shin Onigashima Kouhen extends the adventures of Donbe and Hikari in an ambitiously reimagined Japanese folklore. The narration and illustrations grow in maturity, and the tale reaches its conclusion here, which assumes you have played the first half. More accomplished in its writing, this part will delight fans of refined Japanese storytelling, provided you accept a fan translation. More a contemplative experience than a game in the classic sense, but touching for those who dive in.
