A wholly singular concept: talking out loud to Pikachu through the PokéVoice microphone. Japanese voice recognition is surprisingly decent for the era, the vignettes are cute and the everyday routine raises a smile. More an experience than a game, best left to patient Japanese-speaking fans.

Is Pikachuu Genki de Chuu still worth playing in 2026?

Hey You, Pikachu! is a one-of-a-kind communication game, in which you talk with Pikachu in real time using a microphone, giving it voice instructions during minigames and walks. The concept, charming and a precursor of voice recognition in video games, gives off real tenderness. The voice recognition, limited to English and capricious, along with a slow pace, bound the interest. For fans of Pokémon curiosities and atypical playful experiences, it is an endearing singularity more than a true game.
