Settings of teeming richness, dense crowds and worked-over light: every level looks like a living painting made for observation. The coherence of the environments and the care for detail compose a playground of great credibility. This visual direction, polished and elegant, masterfully serves the infiltration.

Collector interest

An IO Interactive entry that steered the Hitman saga toward more guided storytelling and spectacular staging, without giving up methodical assassination. Printed in large quantity in the West, its collector interest stays low and rests mainly on its hinge role in the series before Hitman 2016 rather than scarcity. A very affordable piece for stealth fans.

A questionable morality

The trade of contract killer is presented here as an art of discretion: disguises, poisons and piano wire, anything to eliminate the target without leaving a trace. You admire the elegance of the hit, and the game even rewards you for tidy work, which amounts to handing out nice grades for paid murders without ever sensing any wrongdoing.

Is Hitman - Absolution still worth playing in 2026?

Hitman Absolution is a transitional entry that favours staging and narrative over the pure sandbox of the previous games. Agent 47, more human and hunted, moves through superbly crafted levels, where infiltration, disguises and creative eliminations keep all their pleasure. The tightening of freedom and the more directive cover system divided purists, attached to the series' open-ended approach. But taken for what it is, the game remains an excellent stealth title, with a careful atmosphere and rewarding gameplay. A good gateway, despite its deliberate turn.
