A Konami 3D fantasy RPG with a notably solemn tone. The evolving magic system is its main draw, the world has character and the real-time combat keeps the rhythm up. It suffers from stiff staging and textbook storytelling, but stands as an honest RPG, a rare thing on N64.

Collector interest

Quest 64 is the North American edition of Eltale Monsters, and its collection appeal rests on its singular status as the only original Western RPG on the N64, a console starved of role-playing. That genre rarity earns it lasting demand beyond its modest qualities, and the title is regularly rediscovered as a curiosity. Loose value stays reasonable, with sealed benefiting from this loyal niche of N64 RPG fans.

Is Quest 64 still worth playing in 2026?

Holy Magic Century is a Konami fantasy RPG in which a teenager from Earth, flung into the magical world of Elkion, must fight forces of evil in fully 3D-modeled environments. The ambition of a complete 3D RPG on the machine and the exploration of vast settings stay praiseworthy for the time. The repetitive combat, a wayward camera and an uneven pace, however, bound the interest. For fans of retro JRPGs and N64 catalog curiosities, it is an ambitious but uneven adventure, mainly interesting for its rarity.
