Vertical shmup by Milestone, Wii port of a nervous Japanese arcade title. Three characters with distinct shot patterns, Knuckle system that boosts damage when hugging enemies. Dense but readable danmaku action, energetic rock soundtracks, classic arcade runtime. Niche but well-tuned, will please shmuppers who love Japanese arcades. Decent presentation, nothing more.

Is Illvelo Wii still worth playing in 2026?

A vertical shooter from Milestone, Illvelo Wii gathers characters and mechanics drawn from the studio's arcade world, with a system of swapping pilots with distinct shots mid game. The bullet density, the colourful anime style and the snappy scoring win over danmaku fans. The modest production and the Japan exclusivity limit distribution. A curiosity for fans of Japanese arcade shoot 'em ups and collectors of confidential Milestone productions on Wii.
