Description
International football simulation game on Game Boy.
The US edition of Konami's arcade football game from 1997 carries over the ISS pedigree from its console siblings. Loose carts stay affordable, but complete and sealed prices climb sharply: the Game Boy's late-life handover to the Color shortened NTSC production, making clean American boxes and shrink-wrapped copies sought after by fans of the Konami series.
Is International Superstar Soccer still worth playing in 2026?
A handheld port of Konami's famous series, International Superstar Soccer condenses the franchise's snappy arcade football onto the Game Boy. The direct handling, brisk pace and joy of scoring still show up despite the smaller screen. Inevitably less legible and less rich than its console big brothers, it does the job for a quick match. A decent option for fans of retro pocket football, above all as a witness to the ISS golden age on handheld.
