Frantic and very accessible puzzler with explosive multiplayer. Simple concept but devastatingly effective, perfect in versus. A small big game not to overlook.

Collector interest

A Neo Geo CD launch title in Japan under the name Joy Joy Kid, giving it the status of a first-wave piece for anyone documenting the system's debut. An effective but understated SNK puzzler, its value rests more on that chronological position and the low initial run than on a ludic reputation. The CD version offers an affordable alternative to the cartridge, and the Japanese sleeve bearing the Joy Joy Kid title anchors the edition in the very start of the catalog.

Better with friends

A mischievous puzzler where you stack and clear blocks before swamping your opponent, two-player in a tense versus mode. The competition rests on speed and anticipation, where a well-built chain instantly flips the game. Simple to grasp yet tricky to dominate, it sparks last-second reversals and restarts with a flick for an instant rematch full of trash talk.

Is Joy Joy Kid ~ Puzzled still worth playing in 2026?

Joy Joy Kid, alias Puzzled, is an SNK puzzler in which you guide characters to push colored blocks to capture demons and solve single-screen brain teasers. The concept, simple and clever, offers a well-measured rise in difficulty and immediate yet deep thinking. The retro charm and accessible playability make it a pleasant puzzler, ideal in short sessions or in pairs. For fans of retro arcade puzzlers and old-school thinking, it is a charming little success, surprisingly addictive.
