Story

Virgin applies to the Disney film the same method as to its other adaptations: supple outlines, animation broken into many frames, foliage drawn across several planes to create canopy depth. Mowgli climbs, swings and slides with remarkable continuity of movement, amid greens worked with particular care.

Collector interest

The NTSC edition of The Jungle Book is the American version of the Virgin/Eurocom game, released in a large print run on Genesis. Its collector value comes from the cult status of the Disney/Virgin adaptation and from the fact that the cartridge remains one of the most recognized Eurocom productions of the 16-bit era.

Is Jungle Book, The still worth playing in 2026?

A 2D platformer by Virgin Games adapted from the Disney film, Jungle Book offers a colourful adventure faithful to the spirit of the film where Mowgli explores the jungle. The successful cartoon art direction, precise handling and catchy soundtrack make this title an excellent Disney adaptation on Mega Drive. The varied levels and progressive difficulty make it an ideal companion for family sessions. For anyone fond of polished Disney platformers, a valid recommendation today still on the Sega console without any hesitation truly here indeed.
