A tropical Disney platformer, smooth and well animated. No genius, but pleasant and faithful to The Jungle Book.

Collector interest

The Super Famicom release of Virgin's Disney platformer, a rare case of a Western license well produced locally in Japan. The SFC cardboard box with spine card, tidier than on other markets, draws Japanese Disney fans and hunters of Japanese versions of Western action games. A more affordable original source than expected, interest rises sharply on a complete copy with intact spine.

Is Jungle Book, The still worth playing in 2026?

Virgin's adaptation of the Disney film, in the visual lineage of their polished platformers of the era. Mowgli climbs, jumps and throws bananas through lush, charming stages, but the sometimes fussy difficulty and mandatory collecting break the flow. Today it draws players for Disney nostalgia and the handsome 16-bit look, provided they accept tougher design than it appears. A pretty curio, short of genre peaks like Aladdin.
