Juuouki is a Japanese Sega/Salio Famicom beat em up adapting Altered Beast in 8 bit version with its resurrected centurion transforming into mythological beasts. The representation chains platform and fixed pattern combat with stage transformations in a reformatted arcade port formula. Without western release, curiosity for Famicom beat em up fans in the 8 bit Salio production vein.

Collector interest

A Famicom version of Altered Beast issued by Sega in 1988, an unusual situation since Sega published on its rival's hardware, making the cart a sought-after curiosity. The arcade beat-em-up port and its mythic beast transformations retain a cult aura. A Japan-only release never sold in the West, it draws old-school arcade fans and collectors who chase Sega titles that appeared off Sega's own systems.
