Few handheld games rivalled such graphic density: metallic glints, volumetric smoke and brutalist architecture serve a harsh science fiction here. The raking light and intricate textures heighten the sense of tangible war. This visual feat remains a showcase of what the machine could offer.
The score adopts the writing of war film music: low brass in sustained chords, military percussion, strings climbing in steps before an assault. The protagonist's mercenary status is conveyed by an absence of heroism in the themes, never triumphant, and the quiet advance sections keep only a low pulse.
