Compilation of the first seven King of Fighters games (94 through Orochi Saga) emulated directly from Neo Geo. Essential chapter of SNK history with memorable Orochi arcs, rosters that grow episode by episode. Decent emulation, online modes on Wii version sadly forgotten. Excellent entry point into a decade of versus fighting, simple but respectful presentation.

An anthology of the early King of Fighters, the compilation gathers energetic themes blending rock, funk and jazz, the sonic signature of the SNK studio. Each team has its standout track, from the famous "Esaka" to frenzied saxophones, galvanising the clashes. This retro musical generosity delights fans of nervy fighting.

Collector interest

An SNK compilation gathering The King of Fighters '94 through '98, the entire Orochi arc, in faithful conversions. On a Wii thin on demanding fighting games, this anthology draws genre fans keen to own these classics in a physical console version. The European PAL edition, released by Ignition, is the most present of the set. Desirability rests on the heritage value of the Orochi saga and on the relative rarity of fighting compilations on the machine.

Is King of Fighters Collection, The - The Orochi Saga still worth playing in 2026?

An SNK compilation gathering episodes 94 to 98 of the Orochi saga, The King of Fighters Collection brings together the golden age of three on three team versus fighting. The richness of the rosters, the depth of the combat system and the mythical aura of that period make the value of the collection. The pad handling adjustments and the absence of polished online functions temper the interest against modern reissues. An essential compilation for fans of 2D fighting and SNK history.
