The Kirby skinned Puyo Puyo port, charming and accessible. A nice entry to Japanese competitive puzzling without the original's depth.

Collector interest

The US version of the Puyo Puyo-derived Kirby puzzler, Kirby's Avalanche came out in the States in 1995. It is a charming but very common NTSC localisation, without the depth of the Japanese original. Loose it stays plentiful and cheap; collecting interest is limited to a complete copy with a clean cardboard box and manual for Kirby-library builders. Its price owes far more to a graded sealed copy than to any edition-specific scarcity.

Is Kirby's Avalanche still worth playing in 2026?

A Kirby reskin of the famous Puyo Puyo, stacking same-coloured blobs to set off chains and bury your opponent in damage. Compile's system is excellent and remains one of the finest competitive puzzlers ever made, here dressed in Kirby's colourful imagery and good-natured tone. The game has not aged a day in pure play terms. Recommended without reservation to anyone who loves snappy versus puzzling, especially two-player.
