Kokumeikan is the Japanese version of Tecmo's Trapt/Deception I. Unique defensive trap system where players lure invaders into elaborate traps. Original and addictive strategic concept unlike anything else. A creative and overlooked PS1 title with truly unique gameplay.

Is Kokumeikan still worth playing in 2026?

A Japanese horror adventure, Kokumeikan locks the player in a haunted mansion to explore by solving puzzles and fleeing unsettling presences. The anxious atmosphere, the oppressive confinement and the dark aesthetic build a genuine old fashioned tension. The modest production, stiff controls and Japan exclusivity clearly limit access. A niche curiosity for fans of exploration horror and collectors drawn to scarcely exported PlayStation scare games.
