A darker reboot of the dragon mascot, A New Beginning drops the playful collecting of the origins for an action adventure focused on combat and mastering elemental powers. The polished narration and voice acting lift the mood, but repetitive clashes and an uneven production cap the momentum. The young Spyro's charm works all the same. Today the title will mostly interest fans of the licence or lovers of family action adventure willing to overlook its flaws.
