The Lord of the Rings The Third Age offers a GBA RPG in the Tolkien universe. Turn-based combat, customisable party and a story parallel to the trilogy. A decent RPG, deeper than other tie-ins.

Is Lord of the Rings, The - Nakatsukuni Daisanki still worth playing in 2026?
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King on GBA adapts the film into a top-down action-adventure, where you take turns playing the fellowship's heroes in sword-and-power combat. The progression and character unlocks bring a little variety, but the modest presentation, repetitive fights and at-times confusing readability limit the ambition. For fans of Tolkien's universe and of unpretentious portable hack and slash, it offers a decent interlude, mainly carried by attachment to the license.
