Lunar Legend on GBA, port of the classic RPG Lunar Silver Star Story. Graphics reduced but the story and endearing characters are intact. A melancholic and touching RPG.

GBA port of the Lunar: The Silver Star remake by Game Arts. This Japanese release came first (April 2002) and stays the more sought-after edition among Lunar devotees attached to the original Japanese script and Game Arts presentation. As a niche RPG it saw a modest print run at home, where the franchise retains a loyal following. Complete Japanese copies, with their home-market cover art, command clearly higher prices than the Western release.

Is Lunar Legend still worth playing in 2026?

Lunar Legend is a GBA port of Game Arts' JRPG, in which Alex dreams of matching the legendary Dragonmaster and sets off on an adventure with his friends across the world of Lunar. The warm story, endearing characters and turn-based combat system keep an undeniable classic charm. This version, however, condenses the original content and loses the animated scenes and voice acting that built its reputation. For fans of retro JRPGs and Lunar, it is a pleasant portable gateway, if not the definitive version.
