The Japanese version of Batman Return of the Joker. Same technical excellence as the western version. Stunning visuals for NES, precise action. Konami at its absolute peak.

Is Mad City still worth playing in 2026?

Mad City is the Japanese version of The Adventures of Bayou Billy, a Konami action game blending barehanded combat, shooting and driving phases in a muscular bayou mood. The variety of sequences and the retro cachet stay enjoyable, but the fearsome difficulty, notably in the rebalanced Western version, and an at-times stiff handling betray the era. This Japanese version proves a little more forgiving. For fans of varied NES action and tough challenge, it is an honest curiosity with an assertive identity.
