The last N64 Madden, openly closing the cycle. Up-to-date transfers, draft and player development remain solid, but the visual engine has little left to give against the new consoles. For loyalists of the platform, an honest farewell, nothing more.

Is Madden NFL 2002 still worth playing in 2026?

The last Madden released on Nintendo 64, Madden NFL 2002 closes the series' presence on the console with 2001-2002 season rosters and EA Sports' proven formula, but with no real evolution over its predecessors on the machine. As the next gen versions took over, this 64 bit entry is a last hurrah, faithful but dated. The playability stays decent for fans. For someone nostalgic for 64 bit American football, a Madden series completist or a curious player, the title keeps an interest that is mostly heritage and documentary.
