Is Madden NFL 97 still worth playing in 2026?

One of the last Maddens on the SNES, released as the franchise was already moving to 32-bit hardware. This 16-bit version keeps the proven play and updated rosters, but suffers from a lack of innovation and presentation that barely advances. Today it is played out of loyalty to the series or to own a late season on the console. Fine in multiplayer, yet clearly outclassed by the next-gen versions of the time.
