Manhunt sequel set in an even more nightmarish psychiatric asylum. Stealth murder gameplay is maintained but the violence atmosphere is even more intense. Very controversial on release. Less appreciated than the first entry but offering a unique psychological horror experience.

Description
A Rockstar London and Rockstar North sequel released in 2007 (US, Europe). Daniel Lamb, an escapee from a psychiatric ward, and Leo Kasper, a sociopathic criminal, must flee the Project. Even more violent than the first game, censored in several countries and forced to ship a "toned-down" version on Western PS2.

Collector interest

The PAL release of Manhunt 2 represents Rockstar's most contested European launch: rejected by the UK's BBFC before a constrained distribution, it remains tied to the wider AO controversy. The European retail run was limited and delayed, making complete copies sought after. The multilingual En/Fr/De/Es/It sleeve and the censorship backdrop drive lasting demand that stands apart from the North American market.

A questionable morality

It's hard to be more upfront: you execute pursuers from the shadows on the orders of a director who films the whole thing like a snuff movie. The game leans into deliberate discomfort and sleazy satire, so you press on while half-hiding behind the artistic argument, aware you're taking part in a spectacle whose cruelty is precisely the point.

Is Manhunt 2 still worth playing in 2026?

A sequel to Rockstar's stealth action, Manhunt 2 pushes psychological horror further with a tale of an amnesiac patient on the run, stealth executions as brutal as ever and an oppressive, grimy atmosphere. The tension of the hunt and the assumed unease stay intense, marked by the censorship that surrounded its release. The extreme violence, the repetition and dated PS2 controls reserve it for a knowing audience. A dark stealth game to recommend for fans of disturbing experiences and murky narratives.
