Mario Sports Mix bundles basketball, hockey, volleyball and dodgeball with Mario and Final Fantasy roster. Thirty characters, intuitive Wiimote controls, several themed courts. Mario mini-games and special events. Limited sports depth, laid-back arcade vibe, ideal in local four-player multi. Not the peak of Mario's sports franchise but decent for casual family nights.

Is Mario Sports Mix still worth playing in 2026?

A sports compilation from Square Enix and Nintendo, Mario Sports Mix gathers four disciplines, basketball, volleyball, hockey and a dodgeball sport, in the Mario world, playable with gestural controls solo or with several, enhanced with items and fanciful special moves. The variety of sports, the festive spirit and the immediate accessibility appeal to a wide family audience. The depth of each discipline stays modest and the repetitiveness lurks over time. For a fan of sports party games or of the Mario world, the title keeps a preserved variety and convivial fun.
