Collector interest

The North American NTSC SNES edition of Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems, the 1996 Capcom Marvel beat'em up. Released at the very end of the console's life, its US print run was short, making it a genuine NTSC rarity, hard to assemble complete in the cardboard box. Desirability rests on this end-of-cycle scarcity, on the Capcom Marvel coherence on SNES (the other title staying Japan-only) and on demand boosted by the current fame of the Marvel characters.

Better with friends

A superhero beat'em up where several Marvel heroes pound in concert through snappy levels, in colorful co-op for up to four. Mutual aid makes the enemy waves a joy to clear: covering each other, combining powers and syncing special moves makes all the difference. Spectacular and accessible, it favors collective fun and triggers bursts of joy at every foe swept aside.

Is Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems still worth playing in 2026?

Marvel Super Heroes - War of the Gems is a Capcom action platformer set in the Marvel universe, namely a roster of five heroes, including Spider-Man, Wolverine and Hulk, crossing varied stages tied to the Infinity Gauntlet saga. The handling leans more brawler than pure platformer, and the missing local co op is partly offset by character swapping between stages. The gems unlock extra abilities. Recommended to Marvel fans and Capcom 16 bit lovers.
