Max Payne on GBA shrinks the Remedy thriller to a top-down view. Bullet-time gunplay, noir narration and urban levels. An ambitious adaptation, a shadow of the PC masterpiece but consistent.

A questionable morality

A cop's grief turns into a very long vendetta in which you mow down thugs in slow motion, gulping painkillers for health between shootouts. Thirst for justice is the engine, but in the end the hero mostly leaves behind an impressive carpet of spent shells. Seeing this whole film noir fit on a tiny cartridge adds a faintly twisted charm.
