MediEvil 2 shifts the action to Victorian London with the ever-endearing Sir Dan. More varied settings, new weapons and improved mechanics. Less groundbreaking than the first but retains the gothic charm and offbeat humor that made the series successful on PS1.

The sequel leaves country graveyards for a Victorian London of fog and gaslight: misted docks, an Egyptian museum, narrow alleys, a townhouse and an airship over the rooftops. The gothic look gains in architecture what it loses in moonlight, and Sir Dan, as wobbly as ever, carries his bony silhouette through it with very British composure.
Andrew Barnabas and Paul Arnold dress their orchestra in Victorian clothes: street band brass, church organ, music hall fiddles and a ghostly harpsichord for the museum corridors. The themes stay as singable as in the first game, with a touch of city swing that suits the London of 1886.
A century and a half after Gallowmere, the would be sorcerer Lord Palethorn gets hold of a page from Zarok's spellbook and raises the dead across the London of 1886. Sir Dan, dug out of a museum display case, returns to duty alongside the chatty ghost Winston and Professor Hamilton Kift, in an adventure comedy of perfectly English composure.
A sequel transposing the skeleton knight into a fantastical Victorian London, extending the macabre humor and singular mood of the first. Still common in the West, it owes its interest to the continuity of a cult series and its original setting rather than scarcity. A piece valued by Sir Daniel fans, accessible for completing the line on the console.
Is MediEvil 2 still worth playing in 2026?
MediEvil 2 moves the action to Victorian London with Sir Dan still as endearing. More varied sets (West End, Tower Bridge, Whitechapel), new weapons and improved mechanics, Sony Cambridge's title prolongs the original formula successfully. Less revolutionary than the first but quality maintained. An excellent pick today.
