Collector interest

Rockman 8 Metal Heroes is the original Japanese release of Mega Man 8 on Saturn, with Japanese voice and text and the obi spine card specific to the domestic market. The Saturn never received a Western version of the game, making this the sole edition on the platform and sought after by series collectors well beyond Japan. Capcom's modest print run and the original Japanese dub underpin a very high complete price, above the matching PlayStation entry.

Memorable bosses

The leap to 32-bit brings animated cutscenes and vivid colors, from redesigned robot masters to punchy duels against the rival Bass. The weapon system keeps its weakness logic while new sequences spice up the pace. This spectacular showcase, faithful to the original spirit, offers one of the series' finest visual displays.

Is Rockman 8 - Metal Heroes still worth playing in 2026?

An entry in the classic series from Capcom, Mega Man 8 sends the blue robot to face eight Robot Masters to counter Dr Wily, in platform action with dazzling graphics and animated cutscenes. The precise gameplay, the weapons to steal from bosses and the snappy pace stay faithful to the saga's spirit, enriched with a shimmering 32 bit production. A few forced sequences and dated voice acting divide. For a fan of retro action platforming or of Mega Man, the title keeps a solid playability and a preserved visual charm.
