Capcom and Bandai try Mega Man X as a turn-based RPG in the Final Fantasy mould. Careful art direction, a calmer story than usual and pretty if conventional combat. A lovable curio, best seen as a parallel experience rather than canon X.

Collector interest

The only true RPG in the Mega Man X line, Command Mission holds real affection among series fans precisely for its turn-based detour. The Capcom PAL run circulated reasonably well, so scarcity is moderate, but desirability rests on franchise loyalty rather than speculation. Completists chasing the full Mega Man X arc keep its value steady rather than soaring.

Is Mega Man X - Command Mission still worth playing in 2026?

An oddity in the saga, this Mega Man X swaps frantic action for classic turn-based combat, and that twist is exactly what makes it worth a look today. The Force Metal system and the rotation between X, Zero and Axl give the battles some texture, even if the pace drags and the difficulty stays gentle. Fans of GameCube-era JRPGs will still enjoy the ride. Diehards of the action series may balk, but the bright art direction has aged gracefully.
